book review.

This is one of my all-time favorite books! it's about a man who was a modern-day slave. he literally had no idea slavery had been abolished and this was in like the 60's! Anyways, this man, Denver, decides to leave the plantation one day and gets on a train that leads him to Fort Worth, Texas. It is here that Denver became a homeless man. He had lived on the streets for about 30 years until he met Ron. Ron was an art-dealer, caught up in his work and the pleasures of money. Once his eyes were opened the life he was missing out on with his wife and family and God, Ron followed his wife's wishes and began working at a homeless shelter. There the two lives of Denver and Ron mixed and each were left forever changed. It is a beautiful amazing story! please read it!

This book, The Last Eyewitness: the Final Week, is the retelling of chapters 13-21 of the book of John in the Bible from the disciple John's perspective. I really liked this book, especially during Easter, because it makes the story of Jesus seems less like a historic account and more like an actual life event. It really just tells the of the events that happened between the time of the last supper and when Jesus ascended into heaven. It placed me in the perspective of a disciple back then and helped open my eyes to the idea of Christ's death creating so much anguish and hopelessness. I'm so glad Jesus defeated death so that we don't have to feel that pain and hopelessness!
